LALT 101
In this course LALT 101, I learned how to use different and useful databases, that I've never used before or even knew about. I learned how to narrow searching for a specific topic and how to evaluate the credibility of different websites. Also I got the way of citing different sources. Before this course, I thought that all sources, books, articles, videos... have the same way of citation.
Nothing is confusing now, I just wanted to learn more about credible websites.
I think that blogging is an organized way in posting the assignments, and it enables you to have a general look at all what you did so far.

Comparison between the databases
Science Direct and BioOne are both databases that provides good amount of information about different areas in science, but they differs in some points. Science direct provides you with more than one way to search for your topic. you can search, by the first letter of the topic (alphabetically), by the name of the author or by the subject that your topic falls into. It provides also two ways to search, quick search and advanced search. It covers information from different sources books, journals..., and it covers the full text of some sources. the database provides sources from 2500 journal and 6000 books and that enables you to get many results and sources for the topic you search for. the database also classifies the topics by subject in a very organized way that gives you chance to find your goal easily. when I searched on global climate change and greenhouse gases, I recieved a lot of sources (19 volume that each of them contains approximately 20 articles) that approximately all of them have the full text
BioOne provides search using the author's name, the date, the type, the title... when I searched on global warming, I recieved 3898 results. I think most of them are scholary. The database covers sources from 1920 to 2009. It provides full text for most of the essays. Although I think that search on Science Direct is easier, but the information provided on BioOne are more relevant to the topic I searched on.

-What is the effect of global warming on Egypt and the Red Sea?
2. What academic disciplines relate to your research question?
-Life sciences, chemistry and earth sciences.
3. What AUC majors and minors relate to your research question?
-Biology and chemistry.
4. What are two databases that might help you research this topic more in-depth (please include the name)? How can you tell?
-The two databases are
1-Science Direct: it covers huge areas in science and environment.
2-Access Science: because it includes all kinds of science, it provides useful information about global warming, and that information is presented in a good claccification (encyclopedia articles, research updates, news, dictionaries...)
